This section describes the following virtual-server management tasks:
The vserver new command creates a virtual server. To create a virtual server, you must specify the virtual server name, the name of the virtual server's root volume, the storage aggregate on which the virtual server's root volume is located, the Name Service Switch setting for the virtual server, the default language for the virtual server, and the security style (UNIX mode bits, CIFS ACLs, or mixed NFS and CIFS) for the virtual server's root volume. Regardless of the security style, both NFS and CIFS clients can read from and write to the volume; the security style specifies only the type of permissions applied to files on the volume. You can optionally specify a comment for the virtual server and a snapshot policy for new volumes created on the virtual server.
The following example creates a virtual server named vs0 whose root volume, named root_vs0, is located on a storage aggregate named aggr1. The Name Service Switch searches only Network Information Service (NIS) servers for network information. U.S. English is used as the virtual server's default language. The root volume uses UNIX mode bits for security. The default snapshot policy is used for new volumes created on the virtual server.
